Impressions on the European Week (1)

In was late on Saturday when the Romanian group finally arrived to it's destination: Lancaster, Great Britain. The hosts waited for us at the train station and we then begun a wonderful experience which was the European Week. Sunday was the chance for me to get to know my host family and to see the beautiful sights offered by the cosmopolitan Lake District, Lake Windermere and the town of Kendal. In the evening I got the chance to meet most of the other students as we went out to the cinema.
The program in LRGS began on Monday with the official welcome made by the Headmaster of LRGS. After that we made some very fun ice breakers, who helped us to get to one each other better. We also made our presentations of our city and school and we headed to the Town Hall where we were received by the mayor of Lancaster. There, we were offered tea and a tour of the Town Hall. Tuesday, we were divided into international groups and we tried to make an advertisment for Europe, presenting distinctive characteristics of every country. After a break, we made a tour of Lancaster, visiting some very interesting sights such as: Lancaster Castle, Priory Church, Dalton Square and the Maritime Museum.
Wednesday was one of the most exciting and enjoying days of my life. We went to Borwick Hall and we spent there all day building rafts, climbing poles and building towers of crates. We learned how to work together as a team and we had a really great time.
Thursday we had to work on our survival guide in international groups and on a survey on smoking. After lunch, we attended a speech given by Right Reverent Patrick O'donaghue who talked to us about the need of unity between the people of the world, and especially of those from Europe. We spent the night out as usual, only that night we had a lot more fun than usual.
In the last day of our journey, we worked very hard on our Powerpoint presentations of the past week and we had them finished by 2 o'clock. During that time, we were able to talk to our friends who were in Tampere and Rendsburg. At 2 o'clock we were to speak to a whole year of students and although we were very nervous, I think we managed to do very well. After that it was time for kisses and farewells and to say goodbye to the places we were used to there. At 6 o'clock I left Lancaster with the hope in my mind to go back there as soon as possible.
