Eiffel Tower

Eiffel
Tower - by Robert Delaunay (1910-1911)
As
an introduction, l have chosen the Eiffel Tower to symbolise France. To my mind,
l think this monument best represents my country due to the fact that, hardly
have people heard "France" when the answer is: "The Eiffel Tower
of course!" Therefore, l have decided to tell you about the origins and muc
other information about the Eiffel Tower.
Firstly,
we are in 1889, in Paris. Soon, it is the World's Fair. The Trade Office
declared that a contest was open in order to celebrate the century passed since
the French Revolution in 1789. With a view to prepare the World's Fair, Gustave
Eiffel decided to create a monument which had never been
seen
before. Gustave Eiffel was a famous French engineer who was born in 1832 and he
died in 1923. Among his inventions, he found the streamlined.
From
1887 to 1889, Gustave Eiffel spent his time to put in his idea. Thanks to the
Industrial Revolution, he used iron to build the tower. Gradually, the tower was
built on the Champs-de-Mars. Twenty-six months later, the Eiffel Tower was 320m
high, it weighed 7350t and it contained 3 floors. The whole was made up of 15000
pieces gathered thanks to 2500000 rivets. From the top of the monument, not only
a powerful television transmitter was installed, but also we can observe 67km
around.
Secondly,
the Eiffel Tower became a famous monument: not only have a lot of people visited
it, but it has also been the rush of painters such as Roux, Delaunay, ...Hardly
has it been a success when the Tower was contested. It may have been destroyed.
Finally, in 2001, we still come across the Eiffel Tower and it is the symbol of
France!
To
put it in a nutshell: ”Enjoying the Tower is loving Paris”.
