A FUN FRENCH GAME !

Do you know French exotic sports ? And especially the funniest one : “ the slipper throwing contest ” . It’s very ridiculous and that is why it’s very entertaining to see but also to play .

The slipper throwing is a new sport . It may have been invented about ten years ago . It is mostly played in village fair . It can be a special test in a competition between villages . It is becoming more and more popular . Many people enjoy seeing it is in fairs . That’s why , slipper throwing has developed and will be played most in all French regions . The established records have turned around twenty – five and thirty metres .

The slipper throwing is an individual sport . Yet like tennis in Davis or Fed cup , teams can be formed . It is played on a pitch. The aim of the game is more less the same as in javelin and discus . The thrower has to throw his slipper as far as possible . But to throw a slipper , the method is very different from the other throwing games . The player puts his slipper on the top of his foot and like football , gives a kick to throw the slipper . In fact , the slipper used is a “Charentaise” : it is a kind of hot and comfortable slipper . That makes this game ridiculous but very funny and greatly appreciated . In conclusion , it’s a combination of spirit of competition and absolute screams .

However , it’s not recognised as an official sport because it isn’t very serious . So there’s no French federation . And unlike basketball or lacrosse , it’s not an olympic sport . It’s just a popular village game .

This game is very funny . I think it is interesting because people enjoy it . There are happy when they play it or just watch it . Furthermore , it instores a competition between the people who want to do their best . I think it is one of the rare ridiculous sport which brings a lot of fun to players or watchers alike .
